The Florida Center for Reading Research is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to serve as Early Childhood Assessors and Interventionists for Project OPAL. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the literacy development on pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children by administering assessments and implementation of a 12-week phonemic awareness intervention. Hiring and paid training will begin in June/July 2026, with field work running from August 2026 through May 2027. This is a great opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on field experience, contributing to meaningful community-based research, and working with a supportive project team throughout the school year.

Anticipated Salary Range
Starting at $14 - $18 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.

Based on the duties, this position may require completion of a criminal history background check .
This position will be for 15-20 hours/week. Candidates should be available Monday through Friday between 8:00AM and 3:00PM, aligned with local school hours.
This position requires reliable transportation and willingness to travel to schools within your designated region on a daily basis.
Work will be performed in Lowndes and Brooks Counties, Georgia, and Walton, Washington, and Holmes Counties, Florida. Applicants may reside within 50 miles of any of the listed counties.

- Implementing a structured, research based small group intervention
- Maintaining accurate records and adhering to research protocols
- Coordinating with teachers and research staff to ensure effective implementation
- Traveling to assigned sites daily
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with children ages 4-6.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field (e.g., Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Psychology)
- Previous teaching or classroom experience
- Experience working in a research based educational or child development setting
- Ideal candidates are dependable, personable, comfortable working independently in the field, and excited to make a positive impact in local communities.
