Job Summary
This Lean Six Sigma Utility position seeks a highly motivated individual for night shifts to join a diverse, award-winning utility organization offering opportunities for career development and advancement. The role is responsible for the efficient control and operation of processes and equipment at the Water Treatment and Reuse Plants to ensure regulatory compliance and the production of high-quality, sufficient volumes of treated water. The position is classified as Essential, requiring flexibility to work varying shifts, respond to emergencies, and work overtime as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor water treatment and reuse plant systems to ensure regulatory compliance
- Control and manage processes and equipment, including pumps, filters, chemical feed systems, membranes, and other treatment equipment
- Observe, interpret, and document plant operations and operational data
- Maintain water quality and production volume standards
- Perform minor equipment maintenance and routine housekeeping
- Respond to emergencies and work extended hours or overtime when required
- Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A college degree is preferred
Experience

- Must have passed the State of Florida Class "C" Drinking Water or Wastewater exam (present examination results letter with application)
- As a condition of employment, must obtain a Florida Class "C" Drinking Water or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators License as prescribed by State law
- Must meet performance standards of Operator I before being promoted to that status by the end of a two-year period

- Willingness to obtain additional licenses or certifications

- Valid Florida driver's license
- Trainee must have passed the State of Florida Class "C" Drinking Water or Wastewater exam (attach examination results letter with application)
- Operator 1 must possess a Florida Class "C" Drinking Water or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators License (attach license with application)
- The following are desirable:
- A Florida Class "A" or "B" Drinking Water or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator
- Dual Operator Licenses
- SEDA MOC certification
- Lean Six Sigma White Belt required within the first year of employment

- Effective communication skills with the ability to read, speak, write, and understand English
- Knowledge of software programs, including:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Asset management programs
- SCADA systems
- Ability to perform treatment-related calculations, conduct chemical testing, and apply chemistry and laboratory procedures for process control and troubleshooting
- Ability to monitor operations, take accurate readings, maintain records, identify issues, implement corrective actions, and document results
- Knowledge of and adherence to safety procedures while promoting a safe work environment
