A First Grade Teacher in Leon County Schools is responsible for providing high-quality instruction that builds on early childhood foundations and supports students' academic, social, and emotional growth. The teacher creates a positive and structured classroom environment where students develop essential skills in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies in alignment with Florida's academic standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons that promote literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills.
Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including differentiated instruction and small-group teaching.
Assess student progress regularly using formal and informal methods; use data to guide instruction and interventions.
Establish and maintain clear classroom expectations and positive behavior management practices.
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student confidence, independence, and collaboration.
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities.
Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to enhance student learning and school initiatives.
Maintain accurate records and comply with all districts, state, and federal policies.
