Join our dynamic Global Storage Team, a strategic pillar supporting Siemens Digital Industries Software's engineers and corporate staff across numerous R&D centers and offices worldwide.

The Role

As a Senior Storage Administrator, you will be instrumental in driving efficiency and innovation by assisting with the automation of our enterprise storage infrastructure. You'll leverage your deep expertise in NetApp and EverPure/Pure Storage to deliver highly available, performant, and cost-effective solutions, playing a critical role in our digital transformation journey.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Storage Administrator will also be responsible for critical storage operations support in a primarily NAS environment and will participate in a global on-call rotation. Must be able to perform problem resolution in an effective and timely manner in accordance with SLA's and customer expectations. Time management and prioritization skills will be required to accommodate business requirements and manage scheduled activities. Must work well in a team environment and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Infrastructure Management: Storage platforms administration, monitoring, upgrading, installation and setup, configuration, testing, and deployments optimized for software development and build environments.

  • Performance Engineering & Tuning: Drive performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting in large-scale enterprise environments with high IOPs and throughput demands (supporting CI/CD pipelines, EDA workloads, and developer scratch spaces).

  • Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Spearhead process automation, expert scripting, and IaC to enable self-service storage provisioning for engineering teams.

  • Vendor & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with architecture, DevOps, and service delivery teams on new and existing infrastructure initiatives; manage vendor escalations for critical support issues.

  • Operations & Support: Handle tier-3 support tickets for complex customer/developer issues and participate in a global on-call rotation. Ensure reliable operations in a primarily NAS/SAN environment in accordance with strict SLAs.

Job Qualifications

  • Education: BS degree (or equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. MS degree is preferred.

  • Experience: 5+ years of directly applicable enterprise storage administration experience in large-scale corporate or software engineering environments.

  • Core Storage Expertise:

    • 5+ years working with Network Appliance NAS/SAN technologies, including in-depth experience with NetApp Cluster Mode (cDot) and management tools (e.g., Active IQ Unified Manager).

    • Hands-on administration and troubleshooting experience with Everpure Storage or modern all-flash scale-out platforms.

    • Robust understanding of Data Protection technologies, including SnapMirror/Snapvault replications and disaster recovery paradigms.

  • Software Development & Engineering Support Alignment:

    • Demonstrated experience supporting software development organizations, understanding the unique IO profile of software builds, test execution, compilation workloads, and artifact repositories.

    • Familiarity with High-Performance Computing (HPC) and EDA (Electronic Design Automation) storage requirements (handling high small-file IOPS, concurrency, and massive throughput).

  • Automation & Scripting: Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, PowerShell, Ansible, REST APIs, and Terraform/IaC to eliminate manual administrative toil.

  • OS & Networking Fundamentals: Solid understanding of networking protocols (NFS, SMB/CIFS, TCP/IP) and deep operating system administration skills (Linux and Windows) for diagnosing client-side storage bottlenecks, permissions, and mount issues.

  • Operations Mindset: Solid understanding of problem management, incident management, and change control processes in a global enterprise. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge / Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Development Toolchain Familiarity: Exposure to modern developer tools and CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Docker/Kubernetes persistent volumes).

  • Certifications: NetApp Certified Storage Associate/Professional (NCSA/NCIE) or Pure Storage certifications highly desired.

  • Virtualization & Cloud: Experience with OpenStack, VMware, or hybrid-cloud storage tiering.

  • EDA Industry Knowledge: Specific familiarity with semiconductor or mechanical EDA tool storage tuning.
