About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Life Safety Systems / Fire Alarm Designer to support the design and delivery of mission-critical facilities, including data centers and other complex infrastructure projects. This position is open to candidates located anywhere in the United States, with preference given to those near a U.S.-based office location.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, BIM teams, architects, and clients to develop innovative and code-compliant life safety, fire alarm, fire protection, and low-voltage system designs. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to world-class data center and mission-critical facility projects while utilizing advanced BIM and design technologies.
Pay $27.00- $72.00 per hour DOEKey Responsibilities
  • Develop life safety and fire alarm system concepts for mission-critical facilities.
  • Create and lead BIM designs with support from engineering and subject matter experts.
  • Design fire alarm, fire detection, fire suppression, smoke control, leak detection, and security systems.
  • Produce construction drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Utilize Revit MEP to create and coordinate 3D BIM models.
  • Coordinate designs with architects, engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Perform clash detection reviews and resolve design conflicts within ACC/Forma environments.
  • Prepare equipment sizing calculations, network diagrams, and construction deliverables.
  • Apply applicable building, fire, electrical, and life safety codes to design solutions.
  • Support multiple concurrent projects while maintaining schedules and deliverables.
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and project teams throughout the design process.
  • Assist in developing constructible and code-compliant designs for complex facilities.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 4 years of Autodesk Revit design experience.
  • Experience using AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience utilizing Revit add-ins and BIM design tools.
  • Experience using Bluebeam Revu.
  • Familiarity with clash detection and issue resolution within ACC/Forma.
  • Experience designing Fire Alarm Systems and associated manufacturer equipment.
  • Experience with VESDA systems.
  • Knowledge of general construction and design specifications.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • Knowledge of:
    • International Building Code (IBC)
    • International Fire Code (IFC)
    • NFPA 101 Life Safety Code
    • NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code
    • NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code)
    • NFPA 13
    • NFPA 75
    • NFPA 76
    • NFPA 2001
  • Experience with VESDA ASPIRE or similar software.
  • Experience designing systems for data centers or mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience with fire suppression systems, smoke control systems, gas detection systems, and life safety systems.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering environments.
