Job Title: Product Owner
Role Summary
The Product Owner will be responsible for defining, prioritizing, and delivering data products that support pharmacy and major medical claims processing. This role partners closely with data warehouse, engineering, and architecture teams to ensure end-to-end data integrity, regulatory compliance, and alignment with business outcomes. The Product Owner will operate effectively in complex and evolving environments, translating ambiguity into clear, actionable requirements for delivery teams and senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Data & Domain Ownership:
Partner with data warehouse, data engineering, and platform teams to understand end-to-end data flows from source systems through downstream consumption layers.
Identify data gaps, attribute enrichment needs, and quality issues across ingestion, transformation, and reporting layers.
Act as the primary product authority for claims data domains, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and usability across platforms.
Pharmacy & Claims Expertise:
Apply strong working knowledge of pharmacy and major medical claims data, including how claims are structured, processed, and consumed across systems.
Leverage familiarity with NCPDP D.0 and HIPAA X12 (e.g., 837) standards to guide requirements, data modeling decisions, and validation rules.
Ensure solutions align with healthcare regulatory, compliance, and audit expectations.
Product Ownership & Requirements Management:
Translate complex business needs, data behaviors, and system interactions into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog items.
Own and continuously refine the product backlog, prioritizing work based on business value, risk, dependencies, and delivery capacity.
Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to balance functional requirements with scalability, performance, and technical constraints.
Stakeholder Engagement & Delivery:
Serve as a trusted partner to business stakeholders, analytics teams, and senior leaders, clearly communicating product vision, trade-offs, and progress.
Operate effectively in ambiguous or evolving problem spaces, bringing structure, clarity, and alignment where requirements are not fully defined.
Participate in agile ceremonies, provide timely clarifications, and support delivery teams to ensure high-quality, on-time outcomes.
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong data and domain knowledge with hands-on experience in enterprise data platforms.
Working knowledge of pharmacy and medical claims processing and industry data standards.
Proven product management / product owner experience in data-heavy or regulated environments.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in clear, business-focused language.
Comfort engaging with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams in fast-changing environments.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Azure-based data platforms, APIs, and analytics ecosystems.
Background in healthcare, specialty pharmacy, payer, or PBM technology landscapes.
