Summary

The Financial Advisor - Brokerage Services provides comprehensive investment and financial planning services to credit union members through the Raymond James broker-dealer platform. This role emphasizes a client-first, fiduciary approach, leveraging Raymond James' research, products, and technology while aligning with the credit union's mission of improving members' financial well-being. The advisor builds long-term relationships, delivers personalized advice, and collaborates closely with branch teammates to deepen member engagement and grow assets under management.

This position with cover the Tallahassee/South Georgia area.

Duties and Responsibilities

Member Advisory & Financial Planning

  • Develop trusted advisory relationships with credit union members through holistic financial planning and investment management.
  • Conduct thorough discovery conversations to assess goals, risk tolerance, time horizon, and overall financial circumstances.
  • Deliver tailored recommendations utilizing Raymond James investment solutions, including brokerage accounts, advisory programs, retirement plans, annuities, insurance, and managed portfolios.
  • Provide ongoing portfolio monitoring, reviews, and proactive guidance to support members through changing markets and life conditions.

Business Development & Credit Union Integration

  • Partner with branch leaders, relationship managers, and frontline teammates to cultivate referrals and deliver a seamless member experience.
  • Participate in branch-based activities, financial education seminars, workshops, and community outreach.
  • Grow and retain assets under management through referrals, relationship expansion, and consistent follow-up.

Compliance, Risk & Fiduciary Standards

  • Operate in compliance with Raymond James policies, FINRA and SEC regulations, and credit union procedures.
  • Uphold Raymond James' and the credit union's best-interest and fiduciary standards in all recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, disclosures, and suitability determinations.
  • Participate in audits, supervisory reviews, and required training.

Operational Excellence

  • Utilize Raymond James technology platforms, CRM tools, and portfolio systems to manage relationships and business activity.
  • Stay current on Raymond James research, market insights, and product offerings.
  • Support reporting, forecasting, and performance tracking as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent experience - preferred
  • CFP® - Certified Financial Planner™, CRPC® - Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor℠ - preferred
  • FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 (or Series 63/65), Life, Health, and Variable Annuity insurance licenses - required
  • Preferred experience with Raymond James platforms and tools, including Goal Planning & Monitoring (GPM), Portfolio Select, eFolio®, Vault, TRITON, and Client Access.

Work Experience

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Financial Advisor, Investment Representative, or similar role within a brokerage, bank, credit union, or financial services environment.

• Experience interacting with FINRA, SEC and state securities divisions

• Proven success building and managing a book of business, including asset gathering, retention, and relationship deepening.

• Experience working within a broker-dealer framework, preferably on the Raymond James platform, including use of advisor technology, research tools, and advisory solutions.

• Branch-based role with travel between credit union locations as needed.

• Experience conducting portfolio reviews, retirement planning discussions, and financial education seminars.

• Strong track record of operating in a highly regulated environment, with consistent adherence to FINRA, SEC, and internal compliance standards.

• Participation in occasional evening or weekend seminars and member events will be required.

• Performance measured through quality of advice, member outcomes, asset growth, and compliance adherence.

• Member Satisfaction (KPI): Performance will be measured using Net Promoter Score (NPS) to assess member satisfaction, loyalty, and overall advisory experience.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and maintain strong organizational discipline.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.

• Professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for a regulated, member-facing financial services environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including advanced working knowledge of Excel.

• Strong interpersonal and relationship-management skills, including tact, diplomacy, patience, and sound judgment when interacting with members, advisors, teammates, and external partners.

• Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and integrity.

• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.

• Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and analyze a variety of documents and reports, including statistical and performance data.

• Commitment to continuous learning related to investment products, financial planning concepts, and applicable industry rules and regulations.

• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
