TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Street Lighting Electrician to join our team in Tampa, Florida.
Job Summary:
This is an entry-level apprentice position in which the selected candidate will learn the concepts and skills necessary to progress toward becoming a qualified electrician. This position may include various aspects of field support, installation, maintenance, and repair, including but not limited to street lighting maintenance; electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; and pole and foundation installation.
The selected candidate will work under the supervision of a journeyman-level electrician. All work must be performed in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable state and local building codes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Assists with the installation and wiring of transformers, troubleshooting, cable pulling, construction activities, and the operation of power tools, equipment, and bucket trucks.
- Assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical and electronic lighting components.
- Installs and mounts lighting controls, devices, sensors, and related components.
- Tests and troubleshoots lighting systems, circuits, and fixtures using appropriate testing equipment.
- Installs pull boxes, conduit, street lighting poles, and foundations.
- Tests continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety.
- Observes the operation of installed equipment and systems to identify hazards and determine when adjustments, relocation, or replacement are needed.
- Raises, lowers, and positions equipment, tools, and materials using hoists, hand lines, or block and tackle equipment.
- Operates company vehicles and travels to worksites as required to perform assigned duties.
- Completes daily reports and logs and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures, and local practices.
- Assists the technical team in addressing advanced and intermittent technical issues.
- Performs work in accordance with National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and established quality requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
- Typically requires 2 to 5 years of related experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, meet company driving requirements, and be eligible to operate company vehicles in accordance with company fleet requirements. CDL Class B preferred.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on business needs.
- Must successfully obtain and maintain a customer-required Florida Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) security clearance throughout employment.
- Ability to operate 40-foot and 55-foot bucket trucks and, when required, an 80-foot bucket truck.
- Ability to work at heights of up to 80 feet.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand tools and equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding work in indoor and outdoor environments.
